Cup joy for Queensbury

Queensbury beat Spen Valley League rivals George Healey 2-0 to win the Mark Hawkins Trophy.

The deadlock was broken three minutes before half-time when James Simpson-Wood gave Queensbury the lead.

They missed a penalty after the break but doubled their advantage in the 81st minute through substitute Chris Brown. Brad Gilbert was named man of the match.

Savile Youth beat Soothill 5-2 in the Premier Division in midweek, with goals from Chris (2), Huzifa, Mirmin and Sacha - Abdullah Aswat scoring both Soothill's goals.

In Division One, Wellington lost 6-3 to Norfolk, J Patel, J Qadry, S Pandow and Osman Iqbal on target, with Nazakat Ali responding for Wellington.

In the weekend's two wo Premier Division games, Soothill beat Howden Clough 3-1 (Abdullah Aswat, Faizal Bham and Mohammed Makda getting the goals), while Savile Youth beat an understrength Bosnia 6-4. Saville scorers were Hazi (2), Jay, Cici, Sacha and Huzi.

In Division One, Wellington enjoyed a 6-1 victory over Ring O Bells, man of the match Liam Firth scoring four of them, with one each from Lee Akinson and Gavin Wainwright.

Norfolk had a good result over Bradford Arms. Yahya Lunat hit a hat-trick with Shakeel Pandor (2), Zaffran Khan and Rizwan Khan also getting on the scoresheet.

Inter Batley could not hang on to their 1-0 half-time lead, going down 4-1 against Marsh. John Milner (2) and Chris Graves (2) scored for Marsh.
