It’s church but not as we know it, as village Christians try a new form of Sunday service.

Churchgoers at Oakworth, near Keighley, are inviting local people to “zone in” at Christ Church on the fourth Sunday of every month.

People can dip in and out of various sessions in different parts of the building during the morning.

There are zones for drama, discovery, music, crafts, reflection, conversation and children.

Worshippers can even watch TV, or sit down with the Sunday papers while drinking coffee.

June Marks, one of the organisers, said the initiative was entitled Liquid Worship. She said: “This exciting new venture is supported by a large team of enthusiastic people.

“We are hoping it will be attractive to those who are not so familiar with church in a traditional sense.

“The aim is to provide interesting and interactive zones on a Christian theme where for 50 minutes participants can pop in and out as they wish.”
