A BRADFORD school has become the first in West Yorkshire to be recognised with a special award.
Star of Netflix series You and Channel 4 drama Ackley Bridge Amy-Leigh Hickman visited Carlton Bolling last week.
The Undercliffe secondary school was handed RE:SET Healthy Relationship Champion Setting Award by education charity Tender.
Staff and students celebrated the achievement at a celebration event attended by Tender Ambassador Amy-Leigh.
The charity says Carlton Bolling has "effectively engaged staff, students and parents/carers to achieve sustainable change".
Headteacher Mohammed Azum said: "The RE:SET Programme has exceeded expectations.
"The framework for measurement has been useful but I have been particularly impressed by how powerful the work with the young ambassadors has been.
"They have been empowered to stand up against misogyny and become champions for equality.
"It has been life-changing, we are setting children up to become model citizens."
Amy-Leigh said: "I’m thrilled to join Carlton Bolling to celebrate this remarkable achievement.
"Preventing domestic abuse and sexual violence can seem an insurmountable task, yet working with Tender, I’ve seen how drama and creativity can make a real difference.
"I want to congratulate Carlton Bolling for their effort and dedication to this cause, and the positive impact it’s had on their school and beyond."
