Well-wishers wanting to help bring stowaway cat Beauty back from Amsterdam have been inundating her owner.

Mum-of-two Helen Wilmore, 36, of Queensbury, said she had been moved to tears by people’s generous offers of help.

One Telegraph & Argus reader got in touch to offer £10 towards the costs of returning Beauty.

Miss Wilmore said: “We’ve made contact with the Cat Boat in Amsterdam where Beauty was taken and we believe she is still there – she hasn’t been given away to another home. We really want her back with us where she belongs.”

The three-month-old black kitten had crept inside Miss Wilmore’s suitcase as she packed for a long weekend to Amsterdam to see her cousin. Despite checks at Leeds-Bradford and Schiphol airports, Beauty was undetected and 21 hours after leaving Queensbury, which included a 15 hour delay at Yeadon, the kitten jumped out of the suitcase.
