Bulls star Terry Newton has avoided another ban but now faces a battle to be fit for Friday night’s clash against Warrington.

The Great Britain hooker was sweating after twice being put on report by referee Steve Ganson in Sunday’s controversial loss at Huddersfield.

He was alleged to have hit Stephen Wild with a late challenge and performed a dangerous throw on Andy Raleigh but the RFL match review panel today decided Newton had no case to answer.

He is free take his place in Bradford’s side at the Halliwell Jones Stadium but revealed: “I’ve got an ankle injury that might keep me out. I did it in training the day before the Huddersfield match but took some pain-killers and a local anaesthetic and got through okay.

“There’s been a bit of a reaction since but hopefully it’ll settle down for Friday.”

Newton – who admitted the Bulls played “like amateurs” at the weekend – continued: “I’m pleased I don’t have to go before the judiciary at Red Hall again but upset I even got penalised at all.

“I was punished on the field for it and let my team-mates down yet it can’t even have been a penalty if they’ve said there’s no charge.”

Bulls’ Paul Sykes is likely to miss the televised Super League meeting at Warrington after his red card in the same match.

The free-scoring centre has to face the RFL disciplinary committee this afternoon charged with alleged use of foul and abusive language to a match official.

Sykes was dismissed by Ganson following the final whistle after Bradford’s dramatic 25-24 defeat and could receive up to a four-match ban.

Giants skipper Chris Thorman – who kicked the winning drop goal in injury-time – has also been ordered to attend, charged with alleged biting.

Bulls full back Michael Platt complained to Ganson that his finger had been bitten in the 73rd minute with Thorman called out and put on report.

The video review panel believe there is enough evidence to warrant a case and he could be hit with an eight-game or more suspension.

Sam Burgess, meanwhile, is seeing a specialist to discover the extent of his shoulder injury, hoping it won’t require surgery.

Take it Burgess is out then?

Severly diminishes our chances if so.

If ever we need Chris Feather to stand up and be counted it is this weak, because up until now, he's been useless.

Could it be Platt is out with injured finger then we can get a full back on field. When I was coached in 70's I was told don't let the ball bounce. I agree Feather has to step up his game & why oh why was Cook left out, he has been one of our more consistent players this year even at Cas he was consistently good for them too. Come on Macca think straight or Jimmy will laugh his socks off and put 60 past us on Friday

Matt Cook and David Halley must play from the start on Friday.

i have to say mickster, you do talk some tripe! feather, when he has played has been very good this season. he was very lucky not to have lost his life putting his life on the line for the bulls.
you talk about getting rid of macca but fail to come up with any sensible solutions, the out of work aussies you mention are not the answer.
i wasn't able to get to the game but listened on the bcb and they did say that in their opinion Platt was the man of the match though it has to be said that half the time they were getting the teams mixed up, (how you can listen to them haitch is beyond me!) but i have to say i dont think he is a bad full back, just needs to eliminate a few silly mistakes.
hopefull there will be a few sore bums from a kicking today and we can get back on track and put in a good performance against wire.

What flamin games have you been watching CJ, Feather is challenging Pltt for the biggest waste of space at the club, due to his soft behaviour and hardly ever on the field.

bcb and they did say that in their opinion Platt was the man of the match

The few games that I have listened to on that garbage channel, those two fools blow their load at everything about Michael Platt, they haven't the slightest clue about rugby league

you do talk some tripe!

but i have to say i dont think he is a bad full back,

How Ironic, it seems you talk as much tripe as the BCB commentators, he's the worst FB in Super Leagueby a country mile.

You were one of those that told LJ he was talking tripe.

HA..........How wrong you are now!

I agree with most of what you are saying Mickster ,but diagree with over Platt on sunday.Ok its one game, but Harris has only just started to shine now he's ready hang is boots up!!
The big problem is fitness with the team & poor buys from Macca.

i'm one of those that is a loyal bulls fan and have been for more years than i care to remember! platt had a good game last week against rovers, and by all accounts he didn't disgrace himself yesterday. i agree that halley should be in the squad but as a winger, his speed is not utilised at full back, i wouldn't have put nero at centre, i'd have had halley and evans out there, but i'm not the coach.being an armchair coach is the best job in the world! we can all sit there and say what should be done but once those players get on the field then it's up to them, the coach doesn't tell them to knock on or pass forward, that is totally out of his hands, the players need to look at themselves. but calling for the coaches head doesn't do anyone any favours. get behind your team, if you are a bulls supporter, and give them all your support.

Hi Cj. Spot on mate about Micksey/LJ comments( Has he really come back under a different guise)?? As regards me listenning to BCB. It's a riot and a choice of either that or watch the score turn over on Sky 'text'. At least I get a laugh to boot!

I am a loyaL supporter CJ. What I am not prepared to do is sit back, make excuses and pretend Macca is doing a good job, he evidently is not.

Everything is accountable to the coach, if the players keep on making mistakes, then why does he keep on playing them, why does he keep on playing bad tactics, bad selections etc etc.

Bad recruitment, unfit players, poor coaching, it all boils down to the man in charge mate, he's in the position to make decisions "fix things" as we continue to hear, yet he isn't doing it, is he?

Platt did some decent things against KR, but he also made another balls up that cost us a try - How long i he going to carry on doing it to us?

Hence why I asked if you all remembered him, and what you have thought about his predictions.

Dont you think I took alot of unfair abuse though for originally predicting what has now turned out to be spot on?

Here's my summary of the season, pluses & minuses.

Platt :- Has gone backwards as fullball.Must be encouraged to attack the ball.Poor position play.

Tupou:- Better in Wizard of OZ.Cross between lion & tinman."Heart as big as pea"
His contract requires terminating!!

Hape:- Great player who was not interested in his last season.Required releasing when he desided to play kick & clap.

Sykes:-Needs improvement on defence.Comes out of defence to nowhere.Good going forward.SHOULD KICKING BALL FOR TOUCH FROM NOW ONWARDS instead of deacon.

SEMI:- Good heart .ALways trys.

Halley :- As above.I would have played him loger at fullback when Platt was having a nightmare.

Deacon:-Disappointin
g with injuries.
GOT TO START RUNNING AT THE OPPOSTIONS DEFENCE WITH BALLS.Has been missed though.

Harris:- Never been fan even when he was GROINER'S. We would have been better signing "Rolf Harris".

Big Joe:- Always liked him,but he's looking over the hill now.

Newton:-Never been his greatest fan. Goes too "banana brain" to be effective in alot of games.IE YESTERDAY should have pushed ball back for a one pointer!!(76 mins)instead of running it.

LYNCH:- Massive season again . big plus.

Burgess:- Superstar.Required to do to much work though.

SOLOMONA:- Big disappointment.
Looks like he's been training at "GREGG'S".Needs 2 stone off to bring the best out of him.

Morrison:- Always tried.Even when he wasnt playing well.

Langley:-Could do beter.has got beeter as the season has gone on.

Godwin :- Always tries hard, but a little small!!

Nero:- ABSOLUTE ZERO.

Jerreys:-Poor buy.one step forward & then ten steps back with form.

COACHES:- RICHARDS & ST HILARE
We would be better with Basil Brush & Vince Hilare.

MACCA - Time to stand DOWN!!!

TEAM IS SO UNFIT.CANT LAST 60 MINUTES NEVER MIND 80 MINUTES.

BYE BYE CLAWSON!!!

No, it wouldn't let me chose LJ, most time I tried it, it said the name was already taken, and then when it did finally let me choose that name, then when it did, the password malarchy started, its taken me ages to get signed up again, I must say I dont mind the new site though.

As my name is Michael I think that my username is valid, you can also find me on other forums under various versions of 'Mick'

Just to clarify, I dont hate any player or coach at Bradford Bulls, I just think that some of them are not very good and poor, Macca and Platt fall into the the two catagories mentioned.

I dont wish for a repeat of the last time I was on here, but I do think those that told me that I didn't have a clue what I was talking about, and I talked 'Codswallop' should be big enough to acknowlede that I actually know a lot about what I am talking about as proven so far and have on the whole been extremley accurate with what I said.

That would be nice

I find it quite amusing. With all the new names appearing it is hard to judge, who is new, who is an established poster who just hasn't posted for a while or who is posting under a new guise! It's a bit like Monsieur Leclaire (allo allo) "it is I...."

I wonder what the comments would have been if a Saints, Warriors or Rhino's player had been given the same treatment as Newton. It would have been a change from blaming the Ref. Lets get to the point and have some changes at Odsal starting at the top or the crowds will go down and down and then there will be no money to make the changes.

QUESTION? Does everbody think we are fit enough?
Has Solomona been fit enough all season?
Why didnt Cook get a shirt on Sunday?
Why did he bring Zero back ?
Why wont we go for one pointer when when we are deep in the opposition terrory on 76 minute?
Why cant Sykes tackle right?
Why does Deacon kick to touch when Sykes kicks alot better out of his hand!!

The BLAME is squarely with the coaching and fitness staff.

Over to you "Macca".
