The age group might have changed from 2007 but the winners were the same when Baildon Rugby Union Club staged their annual Tag Rugby Tournament.
Baildon Church of England School triumphed at Year Four level last year and did so again in 2008 when the age group was dropped to Year Three.
Hoyle Court were runners-up but took the Fair Play Trophy, while Sandal won the Schools Supporters’ Best Banner, presented by Matt Waddington, of Baildon RUFC’s minis and juniors section.
Supporting the event was the Rugby Football Union’s Regional Development Officer Neil Spence.
Pupils from four schools in the Baildon area took part in the mixed tournament, Glenaire being the others.
Each school received at least two coaching sessions from Baildon RUFC minis and juniors coaches prior to the tournament, with some getting as many as six sessions in.
The tournament itself was played in glorious sunshine and each player received a certificate and a medal for taking part.
* Baildon’s mini and juniors season starts on Sunday, September 1 (10.30am) at Jenny Lane, and anyone interested should contact Matt Waddington on 07868-726139.
