City have vowed to crack down on the internet trouble-makers ruining the club’s website.

The message board for fans has been suspended since last Tuesday because of personal attacks on players and threats of violence.

Barry Conlon, in particular, was targeted by various users after the booing which tarnished the last home game against Luton.

Contrary to rumours, City will be bringing back the message board – with improved security methods to weed out those who try to ruin it for the majority.

Secretary Jon Pollard, who oversees the website, said: “We’ve taken care of racism and obscene language on it in the past but there has been a problem arising where supporters are being offensive to players, staff and among themselves – there have even been incidents of inciting trouble at forthcoming matches.

“It’s something we will obviously not tolerate as a club so the decision was made to take the message board down until further notice.

“The new format will have much tighter controls. Individuals will have to apply for membership, which will take several days to be approved to stop people just registering ahead of specific games.

“The improved security will also prevent anyone from setting up various accounts under different user names.”

The beefed-up message board is currently being tested out but it is unlikely to go online for at least another week.

Good what about a similar system on here. Certain people make totally negative comments, have no love but rather loathe city or some personel connected to the club. If you make comments you have to stand up and be counted. Not into censorship but accountability.

There have always been idiots and utter morons about, what thes emessage boards do is give them a forum to inflict the misery and emptiness of their awful lives on decent people. Hence, though I enjoy using them, I'm not sure they're entirely a good thing. Why give a space for idiots and ignorant halfwits to depress the rest of us who support a tream properly?

What is SP gonna do all day at work with the omb down?
Simon only has c&b to read now.
Joking apart, some of the idiots that post on the omb are an embarrassment. They are the same planks that boo a player before he gets on the pitch.

as someone who tries to post reasonable notes albeit with some disagreement(as expected)i look forward to the day when all sites revert to constructive opinions regarding the events at V.P.on or off the field.
