Bradford Thunderbirds winger Rachel Twibill scored England’s only try in their 22-4 defeat against Australia today in the Women’s World Cup on Australia’s Sunshine Coast.

England finished second in their group and face world champions New Zealand on Wednesday in the semi-finals at Stocklands Park. New Zealand headed their group.

Twibill also scored a try in the 54-4 defeat of France in their previous pool game on Saturday and played alongside scrum half Kirsty Moroney and interchange Danielle Titterington, also from Thunderbirds.

Wakefield Panthers stand-off and captain Gemma Walsh scored a hat-trick of tries and Claire Hall (Copeland Wildcats) bagged two.
