Keighley Cougars and Bradford & Bingley RU have confirmed they will face each other in a festive cross-code challenge for a second successive year.

The clubs are set to meet at Wagon Lane, Bingley on Sunday, December 28 (2pm), repeating last year’s successful event when the Cougars emerged triumphant.

The contest sees clubs playing one half of rugby league and one half of union.

Keighley chief Barry Eaton said: “At the Cougars, we recognise we’re part of a larger sporting community in this area of West Yorkshire.

“The Bees are very good neighbours because they allow us to use their training facilities throughout the year.

“We really appreciate that co-operation and taking part in this challenge is a great way for us both to share the joys of playing rugby football.

“It was really enjoyable for the Cougars players last year and we’re looking forward to renewing our acquaintance with the Bees.”

Bees president Richard Smith added: “The economic climate is making it tough for all sports clubs and anything we can do to support each other can only be good.

“The game obviously comes right in the middle of our season, so after 13 very tough league games, the chance to have a bit of fun over the Christmas period is great.

“We hope to make more of a game of it this time, especially in the 13-a-side, as we now have Cougars’ own Karl Smith on our books as well as Cook Island international Aaron Enoka.”
