Otley have a vital National League One match on Saturday at Manchester, who are sharing bottom spot with the Cross Greeners.
And Otley’s pack leader Howard Parr reckons a victory for the away side wouldn’t only do wonders for their points difference.
He said: “Neither of us have won a match yet this season but a win for us would also inspire confidence in what is the start of a run of fixtures where we are targeting victories.
“We have lost matches this season to late penalties or interception tries, and things like that are all down to a lack of confidence.
"We have players who are capable of doing things but they have been constrained by the position that we are in.”
Manchester and Otley both have five league points and the next nearest are Newbury on 14 points so there is a danger that the losers this weekend could be cast adrift.
Parr added: “Saturday should be a real contrast of styles.
“They are a young side who like to throw it about, whereas we like to keep things tighter.”
