Airienteers – which caters for Leeds and Bradford – competed in the events at Swinsty and Beecroft Woods, organised by Harrogate-based club Claro.
The night event last Saturday (not for the faint-hearted) provided three courses of varying lengths. The longest and most technical was won by John Houlihan of York, while Eddie Winslow and Neil Conway, both locals, occupied second and third spots respectively.
The medium course was won by Allen Bannister (Claro), with Airienteer Madeleine Watson first local home in fifth, while Margaret Parker was short course runner-up.
Over 250 runners competed in the colour-coded district event last Sunday over the same terrain.
Courses differed in distance and technicality, the longest being the 8.5km brown course which was won by Irish international James Logue in 64min 40sec. Baildon’s Steve Watkins had a good run for second in 70.12, while veteran international Peter Haines of Ilkley was fifth in 71.47.
Eddie Winslow of Menston and Ali Wood of Leathley also had top-ten finishes.
The 6.4km blue course was won in an impressive 43.38 by Yorkshire junior George Stevens of Ilkley, while Neil Conway of Headingley and Frank Kew of Ilkley came third (49.37) and fifth (54.38).
Airienteer Kelvin Dawson was second on the green course in 50.40.
