Bradford Park Avenue will be looking to maintain a 100 per cent start to the season as they travel to Hednesford Town on Saturday for the toughest of their three matches to date.
After sweeping aside Prescot Cables last weekend, Avenue registered a second successive 4-0 win at Matlock Town in midweek and that sees them setting the early pace in the UniBond League Premier Division table.
“We try our best and we can’t complain about the start we’ve had,” said Horsfall boss Dave Cameron.
This weekend will test the early resolve of his players, with the UniBond League also having a full programme of fixtures on Bank Holiday Monday.
“Hednesford will be a test for us but any away game in this division is a tough one and that is why Tuesday’s win at Matlock pleased me,” said Cameron.
“We scored four, had a clean sheet for the second time and once again it could have been much worse for our opponents. That is not just my view, the Matlock manager said after the game it was men against toddlers, not boys. Those were his words.
“I don’t see two games in three days being a problem for my lads, especially with the Monday one being at home (to Worksop Town). If we had to travel both days it might have been a wee bit harder.
“If we win at Hednesford it will be the same team on Monday. I’m a firm believer in never changing a winning team if you don’t have to.
“Apart from a couple of old heads at the back, Carl Ruffer and Mark Haran, we have a youthful squad. Two games in quick time won’t be a factor and if anything it will be better for them at this early stage in the season.”
