Guiseley 2 Park Avenue 0
There was an inauspicious start to Mike Marsh’s reign as caretaker-manager at Avenue when his side slumped to defeat in a cup tie derby at Guiseley and also ended the match with ten men.
Guiseley will be in the hat for the fourth round of the UniBond League Challenge Cup after easing through this all-Premier Division clash.
There was a delayed start to the game because of motorway problems.
Avenue’s bus was held up and the kick-off was put back until 8.15pm.
Midway through the first half the home side edged in front when Mark Thompson thumped a free-kick into the bottom corner from more than 20 yards.
Just before half-time, James Hanson added the second with a well-struck left-foot shot.
Avenue skipper Mark Haran saw red just after the hour for foul and abusive language.
