Campion Under-12s may have only played one previous Craven, Aire & Wharfe League match this season due to Ramadhan.
But they showed they will be a force to be reckoned with after claiming a 2-2 draw at home to B Division leaders Bradford Tigers.
Campion’s goals came from Mali-kia Hodgson and the ever-dangerous speed merchant Dioko Gloddy but Tigers countered with a Jordan Kitching goal and a late Daniel Marshall penalty. Campion also missed a penalty while Tigers hit a post.
In the E Division, Albion Sports ended leaders BD3 United’s 100 per cent record, defeating them 2-1 away.
Albion trailed but goals from Karmdeep Sarai and a very late penalty by defender Bradley Horsman ensured Sports took the spoils.
In-form BD3 United under-13s won 4-2 at Thackley United but were 2-0 down after ten minutes.
Inspired by Mohammad Hamza in midfield, the fightback produced goals for Shohaib, JB, M Israr and M Wahaab.
In Under-14 B Division, Silsden won 5-2 at Grassington after winning the second half 3-0.
Jed Cooper (4) and Kyle Moulson got the goals for Silsden, Paul Robinson sneaking the man of the match award in what must have been a difficult decision.
Bradford United under-15s kept their 100 per cent record with an 8-0 triumph at Nab Wood, man of the match Saeed Hussain scoring five goals.
Ben Cooke had an afternoon to remember for Albion Sports under-16s, for whom he netted his first hat-trick.
They beat Keighley Athletic 4-1, having gone behind to a well-taken goal.
Aran Basi’s excellent pass brought Cooke his opener, and Temour Khan got their second after Ranbir Singh had gone close. Cooke then took centre stage.
First-half goals by David Shirazi and Andy Hawker helped Campion under-17s to a 2-1 win over close rivals Boothtown.
Undercliffe Celtic ignored the cold weather to defeat Wilsden 4-0, Gareth Thompson blasting home the opener on his way to yet another hat-trick. Lee Smith also got on the scoresheet.
Newcomer Adam Hussain’s brace helped Albion Sports under-15s beat Upperthong C 7-2 in the Huddersfield League.
With man of the match Tobias Embenga scoring from long range, goals also came from Josh Stoyles, Ryan Minshull and Essan Farroq.
Eccleshill United under-17s won 7-2 at Saville United, with goals from Matty Briscoe (3), Tony Hardisty (2), Adam Romani and Ben Binns.
Ashley Brown’s five goals brought him the man of the match award for Bradford United in their 8-1 victory at Mount Pleasant. Bradley Asquith Briggs, Ben Bodle and Dominic McCory also netted for United, who are now second.
Man of the match Tyrone Sagar (3) and Conner Thompson (2) were on target for Vision under-tens A in their 5-0 win over Norristhorpe, but Luke Foster had to make some fantastic saves to keep a clean sheet.
An even muddier pitch didn’t stop Vision’s B team from defeating Norristhorpe B 11-0, goals coming from Elliot Hinchliffe (4), Joseph Lawrence (3), Adam Norman (3) and Lindley Gentles.
Bradford United under-sevens’ Jack Fairlie made some good saves in the first half and then scored a goal in the second half as an outfield player as they were defeated 5-2 by visitors Leeds Maccabi in the Keybury League. United’s second goal came from Felan Panwar.
An excellent team display gave Bradford Tigers a 7-0 victory at Silsden in the Green Division, Aaron Duckett (5), Spencer Davey and Thomas Heap netting. Bradford United’s under-eights gained revenge for the under-sevens’ defeat, defeating Leeds Maccabi 13-2.
Man of the match Jack Holroyd scored seven and captain Cameron Miles and Kian Hutchinson two each, Asa Mitchell and Janaas Khan completing the tally. Meanwhile,Campion’s under-eights are off the mark after defeating Bolton Woods.
Thackley Thunders’ under-nines hit the post five times and had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Silsden, Joshua Debenham getting the deserved equaliser.
Spencer Gordon scored for Albion Sports and Jacob McNulty was superb in midfield in their 10-1 home defeat against Bramley Phoenix.
Albion Sports showed plenty of fight but were always chasing the game in their 8-4 Red Division defeat by Leeds Maccabi.
However, Lewis Hawkes scored two brilliant goals for Albion, other goals coming from Nathaniel Hendricks and Lewis Myers.
Queensbury Cougars under-tens’ defence won the day in a 4-2 victory over Thackley Thunder, George Beck netting after only 17 seconds for the winners. Other goals came from Beck, Ryan Sykes and man of the match Harry Palmer.
Thackley Lightning were seen off 5-0 by Queensbury Colts, Joe Beadsley (3) and Luke Harrison (2) being on target, defender Jacob Mistry winning the man of the match award.
Man of the match Aidan McLoughlin bagged a hat-trick, Callum Furtees also scoring in Eccleshill Falcon’s 4-2 victory over a strong Burley Kites outfit.
Callum Towriss equalised for Bradford United at Otley in what ended up as an 8-1 defeat, Omar Powell being United’s man of the match.
Sutton Rascals spiked Bradford United’s unbeaten record in the Under-11 Blue Division, winning 4-0. Hanif Hussain was United’s man of the match.
Silsden, who defeated Whitkirk Wanderers after extra-time in last season’s County Cup, were taken the distance again when they met at under-13 level in the second round of the Millennium Cup.
Josh Brown and Dylan Budge both put Silsden ahead only for Whitkirk to equalise with two minutes of normal time left, and Budge got the winner in the second half of extra-time. Ben Phillips was Silsden’s man of the match.l * BD3 United have set up a girls’ football development camp run by two FA qualified coaches.
