England honour for big hitters

Two Bingley Grammar School students are celebrating after being chosen to represent their country. Olivia Preston and Bryony Wraith, who are both in Year 11, have been selected for the England under-16 rounders squad.

A training day with the other successfully selected students is planned in Birmingham next month.

Meanwhile, Bingley Grammar have won the Under-15 Bradford Schools’ Rounders Competition, defeating The Girls’ Grammar School, Bradford by an innings and one rounder.

As a result of this, seven team members went to the trials from which Olivia and Bryony were selected. They then attended trials in Oxford during the summer.

Coach Alison Wales said: “As their coach for four years, I am extremely proud of Bryony and Olivia – but they are part of a superbly committed, enthusiastic and talented squad who are a joy to work with.”
