Talented Fiona is tipped for 2012

Hurdler Fiona Jordan, from Ilkkey Harriers has been named in the England Athletics-Yorkshire & Humberside regional development talent squad.

The 200-strong 2008-09 squad, which is sponsored by CE Electric UK, has been selected by England Athletics based on the athletes’ recent competition results and performance during the summer season.

All team members are deemed to be the very best in the Yorkshire and Humberside region, and showing the most potential for success at the 2012 Olympics.

Marie Dixon, regional manager at England Athletics- Yorkshire & Humberside, the regional governing body for the sport, said: “This year’s squad has some outstanding talent.

"There are definitely a number of young athletes that will be ones to watch in 2012 and we hope that the additional training and support they receive from us and CE Electric UK will help them get to the top.”

Geoff Earl, from CE Electric UK, said: “We believe athletics is an excellent sport to support as it is accessible to all youngsters.”
