St Mary’s, Menston pupil Rosie Davies has certainly been leading from the front for the school’s under-18 team.
The team’s captain helped them to a semi-final berth at the Leeds Schools’ Netball Tournament at Woodhouse Grove.
In the final group stages, St Mary’s defeated Allerton High, Abbey Grange, the Grammar School at Leeds’ B team and Intake High, only losing to Grove’s A team, who included an England and Premier League player.
Consequently, St Mary’s were second in their group, earning a semi-final berth against the Grammar School at Leeds’ A team.
In a close-fought game, St Mary’s lost 12-9 but Davies was chosen as their player of the tournament.
The Year 12 student continues to impress, having been selected for the West Yorkshire under-19 squad and undergoing regional trials for Yorkshire and Humberside at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield.
Year Eight pupils Daisy Holmes and Chloe Tindale are representing City of Leeds at under-13 level.
