Baildon Rugby Union Colts, aided by two tries from Rob Kershaw, notched a solid 22-12 victory at Heath.

The visitors soon led with a penalty by Rob Moore and, with their forwards dominant and JJ O’Connell driving them forward with some precision kicks, Andy Robinson scored wide out after a pack drive from a line-out.

Baildon had to prove themselves in defence but Kershaw rolled over from a maul, O’Connell’s conversion making the half-time score 15-0.

Poor tackling in the centers led to Heath’s inside centre getting a converted try and Baildon then self destructed when the forwards lost the ball and Robinson was sin-binned for handling on the floor.

A poor kick out of defence led to a second Heath try but Baildon came back to life after a nail-biting 20 minutes.

Their pack again took control with driving mauls and quick ruck ball to set the backs free, Jonny Picken being held up just short of Heath’s try line.

Quick support from the forwards enabled two drives and gave Kershaw the chance of his second try, Moore converting.

* On Sunday, Baildon are holding their mini festival for under-sevens, eights, nines and 11s (11am).

Teams from Wharfedale, Morley, Keighley, Aireborough and Skipton have entered and the final is due at 1pm.

Event sponsors are White Cross Vets, Guiseley, who have been in operation for over 70 years.
