Television commitments have forced former India and Lancashire wicketkeeper-batsman Farokh Engineer to pull out as guest speaker at Friday’s JCT600 Bradford League annual dinner at the Cedar Court Hotel.
However, the league have found a more than handy replacement in England’s chairman of selectors Geoff Miller.
Engineer is set to comment on the forthcoming Test series between India and England.
Bradford League chief executive Bob Shackleton said: “We are extremely fortunate to have secured such a good speaker at such short notice.”
All-rounder Miller, 56, who was appointed as England’s national selector last year, had previously served as a selector for eight years under David Graveney.
An off-spinner and right-hand bat, Miller played for Derbyshire, Essex, Natal and England.
