Pudsey St Lawrence stalwart Tony Moore has won the JCT600 Bradford League’s most prestigious award.

He was presented with the Sir Leonard Hutton Trophy for outstanding service to the league at their annual dinner tonight at the Cedar Court Hotel.

League president Keith Moss said of Moore: “He seeks not the limelight, he seeks not the applause and he seeks not the glamour, but what he does seek is to do his best for club and league.”

Moss added: “Tony joined the committee at St Lawrence 30 years ago and became their press officer, ensuring the best coverage, both locally and nationally, for his club.

“The club’s programme then was a crude affair but, thanks to Tony, it is now a glossy, multi-page publication.

“Tony has also filled in as deputy scorer, gateman and worked hard on the ground, all this being achieved against a backdrop of ill health and energy-sapping treatment.

“He could easily have taken a back seat but has showed great determination and unfailing good humour.”

Matthew Anderson won the JCT600 Players’ Player of the Year prize.

He captained East Bierley to their second successive second-team Division One and Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield double and topped the bowling averages.

Other award winners included – JCT600 Unsung Hero: Mike Baker. Albert Smith Spirit of Cricket: Pudsey Congs. Gordon Bowers Young Cricketer of the Year: David Syers (Farsley). Ernest Lodge Trophy Young Spin Bowler of the Year: Chris Marsden.
