If rain prevents play on the scheduled date next season and clubs cannot agree another Sunday date, matches in the Heavy Woollen Cup or Crowther Cup can be played over a minimum of 15 overs per side on an evening.
However, if one or both clubs have a fixture or cup match in their own league on the set date, the management committee will decide a date for the game.
Heavy Woollen Cup president David Sharp said: “I believe it was a very positive meeting and the changes the clubs have voted in will strengthen the competition.
“By reducing the size of the competition, we will need one less round and that has created extra space on the calendar.”
The management committee was re-elected en bloc.
