Skipper Paul Deacon returned from injury to inspire his Bulls side to victory.

The ex-Great Britain scrum-half produced some real quality moments in what was largely a low standard Super League match.

His brilliant individual try finally made sure of success on the hour mark after his boot had also played a part in scores for James Evans and Matt Cook.

The Bulls were 12-0 up after just four minutes courtesy of tries from Evans and Terry Newton, both converted by their returning captain.

But they never kicked on in a lacklustre first period where both sides struggled to produce much momentum.

Bulls Semi Tadulala and Hull’s Jamie Thackray were sin-binned for fighting and it was the visitors who struck when both sides were down to 12.

They had already responded through Motu Tony before Matt Sing finished off Craig Hall’s break, Hall adding the extras to see his side trail just 12-10 at the turnaround.

But ex-Hull hooker Wayne Godwin got Bradford off to a flier just after the re-start and - although Great Britain centre Kirk Yeaman hit back - it was then all one way as the Bulls found their groove.

Matt Cook finished off a well-worked move involving Deacon on 53 minutes and then the No7 craftily jinxed his way through before stepping Tony and speeding to the line himself.

Bradford, whose top six spot is now all but confirmed, finished strongest with both David Solomona and Craig Kopczak held up over the whitewash before Joe Vagana showed them how it’s done, bulldozing in for his first of the season.

Ben Jeffries hacked on a loose ball just before the hooter for their seventh of the afternoon, the excellent Deacon maintaining his 100 per cent record converting to finish with a personal haul of 18 points.

Hmmm Not impressive despite the scoreline. Too many tackles were half heated leading to Hull tries and the attack was still mainly one man rugby, it was the occaisional flare that caught out Hull and the rest of us! Still it was nice to see Big Joe power through for a 10 metre(I'm being generous) try also Deacs doing a sublime shift and swerve for his.
Overall it wasn't as good as the scoreline suggests. Langley should be put in the reserves and let Richard Johnson do a full spell. There are too many basic errors with the team at the moment and all the players have got to take responsibilty for this. Next week is now a must win to ensure 6th place ( not a phrase most of would be expecting to use at any season in SL). It would still be nice to have the best reason to visit OT this year despite everything!

I told you, & other sites, that we would be a completely different team when Deacon returned.

He is a real leader of men & I predict that we will not be crowned Superleague Champions of 2008.

Mickster, Damo where are you now. Mickster with your super league experience with Bowling wasn't it and Damo with your wrestling I bow down to your nsuperior knowlege. I have been saying that Deacon makes us play completely different and keeps us moving forward. But no you are totally correct he is cr@p and not worth the shirt. Oh you are so right he does nothing for the team you are so right and not one bit wrong.

Well done Deacs, proof beyond doubt of what a quality player he is and just how badly we miss him. But this was a mediocre affair and we have a long way to go if we are to truly impact in the playoffs. Nice to see Joe score, a good performance from Finnigan I thought, as well as wagga, but Jamie Langley seems to have turned into an ordinary player, misses tackles in defence, very much a ball up the jumper man when in possession, when he once seeme dcapable of becoming so much more. I wonder if his wrist injury is hampering him somehow? Halley clearly happier at FB than wing and after a woeful first half I thought Nero, when Sol got on and start putting him in goos running posiitons, showed glimpses. But overall we need to up our game a long way form this. I hope Hull have some improvement in them when key players return for Wembley because on this evidenc eit will be a cricket score down there.

Spot on Micksey. Will Halley keep his spot when Platt's back though?
As for Langley I have never been a massive fan but I think now is the time to give him a rest and bring in some young blood. Deacon for World cup!!!

Didn't Halley cop a bad injury?. I was trying to decypher the commentary on BCB, a work of art, and they said he was hurt, trying to stay on the field, but then had to be carried off.

a scrappy game but we got the 2 points, jeffries try at the end was brilliant he had to kick, chase and ground the ball with the hull player with him all the way. i know im probably been optomistic but if we can beat hull kr and cas in our last game we could finish 5th we have a big points difference over wigan, and can anyone see them beating leeds and saints in there last 2 games?

Good point Andy, in which event we'll play Wire, assuming we beat KR & cas. I fancy we can improve on what we did yesterday, there were times when we didn't look very confident, like a side that's been losing matches. If we can win the next 2 and go into the playoffs on 3 nice wins I think we can give all bar saints a serious game.

Morning Haitch, Halley fell over a divot and turned his ankle, went down like a sack of you know what as well!

A few decent performances from individuals, Deacs, Finnigan, Lynch, Joe and co but also some not so good, Langley and Newton were dreadful as was our overall shape on offence, we had backs to the ball, dummy half did not know where to go, standing way too flat (Langley). Halley did v well at FB especially picking up moving balls which Platt would have been fumbling about with. Nero first half poor, 2nd half much better and made some quality breaks alongside Sol but need to do it for 80 mins every game. Hate to say it but at times we missed Harris....
Cracking right hander from Semi on ginger whinger Thackray!!!!

Need to improve further for KR whos tails will be up from beating Wolves.

lol, have you heard this guy, one good game from Deacon and he's tuggng away over him.

You must somehow forget all the other garbage performances from the guy.

lol, what a chump.

Having said that, Deacon did have a very good game, alongside a few others, Cook was immese again and even Zero started to get stuck in. Tadulala is a workhorse and really aggressive. I like the guy.

oddshaped balls, you start an arguement on the city site, but then clear off when it gets heated. as a former pro, not a top class one just A team standard, if you know what that was, i used to play with a lad who used to do the same on the field, which i doubt you have, but he got his come uppance in the end.

so why not give up slagging city off and put it to bed.

as a bradfordians we should be behind both pro teams.

sorry but i have to disagree with those that thought halley had a good game at fb. i thought he was woeful going forward, he never breaks the line and doesn't us his speed going forward, he runs sideways giving the defence time to catch him. so i'd rather see platt there, halleys ok at picking the ball up but he's just too light and submissive. not a great performance but the 2 points are welcome. i thought we couldn't finish better than 6th?
why is it very few people sing? i keep trying but it's hard to keep it up when you're on your own, so to speak. everyone is complaining about lack of atmosphere but no one wants to join in with the chants. come on you lot lets make plenty of noise next week and improve the atmosphere!

Yeah, we arnt very vocal in terms of chanting. I wonder if its because of the same old boring mundane 'Come on you Bulls'. We dont have any fun songs to sing really.

I actually stood in the Hull end for the first time, its very different and to be fair, the noise comeing from the pop side is a bit louder than I imagined.
