Rhinos 28 Bulls 18
The record books will say the Bulls lost all four games against Leeds this season but they won’t describe how this shouldn’t have been one of them.
The outstanding Andy Lynch must still be wondering how he finished on the losing side after delivering a performance that would have graced the World Cup this autumn.
Let’s hope the all-conquering prop gets the chance. It was just typical of some of the misfortune Bradford are suffering presently that it was the barnstorming forward who conceded the penalty that saw Leeds sneak the points.
It was harsh. He was penalised for interference on the last tackle even though Matt Diskin clearly shoved him into a Leeds player as he tried to get clear from the ruck.
The resulting set ended with Diskin dinking in a grubber and Carl Ablett just got it down to send the Leeds fans crazy, Burrow’s kick putting them in front for a lead they never lost on the hour mark.
The Bulls, without six regulars including skipper Paul Deacon, England star Sam Burgess, Glenn Morrison and David Solomona, were expected to get hammered by a Leeds side looking to get back on track after back-to-back defeats.
But Steve McNamara’s side got off to a bright opening following an explosive start when full back Michael Platt and Leeds’ Rob Burrow were both sin-binned in the fifth minute.
Platt was lucky only to receive a yellow card for head-butting Brent Webb in a melee after Rhinos winger Scott Donald was trapped behind his own line.
Burrow was also sin-binned – apparently for retaliating – but needed to go off after receiving a wound in the scrap that left blood gushing down his face.
Donald limped off with a rib cartilage injury

I found it hard to judge the game. Leeds were woeful, especially Sinfield, McGuire (an international stand-off????)and Burrows. I've not seen the Bulls play for a while so if you stalwarts say that was an improved performance then the radio commentaries I've listened to must be correct. I thought the game was there for the taking. With the majority of possession, all the Bulls required was composure. Once again, the last quarter undid them and, again, highlights problems with the conditioning regime at Odsal.

I thought Leeds played as well as we allowed them to, disagree with the harsh words on Platt by the way too. What he did was impose himself - and us - physically and aggressively on the game, and it raised our levels all across the park. I've thought it too often this season, we're too nice! What we need is a bit of meanness and Platt showed that, so he got sinbinned, the overall effect of his aggression did us good.
Big up Lynch, superb, but also Matt Cook - an outsanding effort from another good young forward we have who will get better, this guy needs to be properly stepped up and into the team now, forget Finnigan and Nero, Matt Cook has earned his chance and Macca should reward that.
Well done Iestyn, I said earlier in the season when Jeffries was playong SH, switch them round, leave BJ at 6 and put Iestyn at 7 and look at the difference when we do that! he's still a good player but he isn't quick enough for 6 and Macca should have spotted that sooner.
All in a positive night for us and one we can take a lot from, well done all the 17 and nice to see Johnson get a chance, he did well.

Had he cleared the ruck and the Leeds player had run at him he would have been deemed offside had he obstructed the player. He was ( although I admit accidentally) in an offside position and the ref was right, I hate to say.No I'm not "having a laugh" Those are the rules.
Are you having a laugh Haitch. Lynch was pushed as he was clearing the ruck

Agreed Adey except for offside. But hey there are many grey areas in RL.Must be said the performance is what counts and we couldn't fault the boys.

We missed that killer blow which would of killed off Leeds. We panicked and coughed up the ball in a decent position with a few minutes to go but other than that I was very proud with the passion and determination that the entire squad showed from start to finish.
We showed exactly what we can do when we put our minds to it. May be that could be the kick up the arse that we needed. Let's back it up next sunday against Hull and get a bit of decent form before we hit the play offs.
